The question: What makes a difference?

As someone who works in school improvement I keep coming back to this statement:

You are doing lots that is good already. Many of the skills you need are in place, but, have thought about ... to make a difference?

So, what is it that 'Makes a Difference'.

There is no magic wand, no one thing that makes it all work. What makes a difference is the complex interweaving of many strands, different in each school, academy or college, and different in every single classroom. Teaching is an art form. It is full of skill and subtlety. On these pages I hope to to reflect on messages which have grown out the myriad things I have seen and heard.
